Getting Started
An initial meeting is essential in getting a project off to a good start. All major projects begin with a consultation to discuss the requirements, map out a strategy and meet the team members that will be involved. If one exists, the current website is reviewed and challenges and objectives are addressed. Visitor needs and expectations are also discussed. We learn how they use the site and what is most important to them. Some clients may choose to offer a short survey on their existing website prior to the project start to gain feedback on how the current website could be improved.
Web Design
All clients are unique, and Basecamp creates unique designs that will meet the specific needs of each client and their visitors. Basecamp collaborates with you, taking into account the style you want the website to convey, and then translates that into a design that best represents you. All websites are designed to be responsive to fit all screen resolutions and devices, and incorporate best practices in accessibility, usability, and search engine optimization.
Content Management
Basecamp recommends that a Content Management System (CMS) be implemented, as it allows your staff to maintain the website with ease and provides a template to preserve style and layout consistency throughout the website. Basecamp uses two open-source products - Joomla and WordPress, which are widely used and supported.
In addition to the core CMS installation, components and plugins can be added as needed to fulfill any feature requirements and customization. Types of components include a calendar, event registration, e-mail communications in the form of a newsletter or e-mail blasts, agendas and minutes, and online forms.
Training
Training is an essential step in ensuring that your project is successful. All aspects of the CMS will be covered and your staff will gain the knowledge required to maintain all features of the website. Instructions and a style guide are created so your staff members have information to refer to as needed.
Maintenance/Support
Basecamp is an ongoing resource after your website has launched. We will perform any maintenance tasks on an as-needed or continuing basis, depending upon your requirements. Time spent on maintenance and support is billed at an hourly rate – there are no ongoing contracts. In addition to maintenance requests you may have, Basecamp will conduct all upgrades to the CMS and its components. This process is necessary as it keeps your website up-to-date and secure.
Web Hosting
Basecamp offers affordable and secure web hosting through one of its partners.
